Music Program

Elements of Music and Creative Movement
“Music with my Friends”

Using the voice as the principal instrument, children will have opportunities to develop awareness of melody, rhythm and beat through songs, chants, fingerplays and nursery rhymes. We will incorporate body percussion like clapping and patting our knees. The children will be introduced to percussion instruments, scarves and other props in a playful and inviting atmosphere.

Creative movement experiences will give the children the opportunity to develop imaginative thought, expression, coordination, body and spatial awareness. They will hear and respond to a wide variety of music, inspiring them to represent their ideas on everything from caterpillars to clouds and ponies to penguins.

Children will develop self-awareness and awareness of others as a natural outcome of participating in music and movement activities. In everything we do, a feeling of belonging and acceptance will be fostered. The underlying goal of this program is to nurture positive emotional connections for children as they listen, move, sing and play.

Springhill's music program is carried out by a dedicated music teacher with qualifications not easily found at other preschools...
