Springhill Preschool is governed by an executive board made up of the parents
whose children attend Springhill. As such, heavy emphasis is placed on
ensuring highly qualified teachers develop and carry out the learning
curriculum.
Springhill is fortunate and proud to have not only great teachers but staff who
love being with children to watch them learn and see them grow. Fulltime
staff include:
Rachel Medhurst
Rachel graduated from the University of Alberta with an Education degree, major in elementary & minor in psychology. She has worked part time for the past three years as a nanny to three kids (now ages 1, 4 & 7).
Rachel believes that it is important to make connections with the children to develop a positive learning environment that allows for individualized growth and development. She also believes that teachers are powerful and memorable role models in a child’s life and think that with an open mind and open heart, many wonderful opportunities and experiences can take place.
Jill Lundquist
Jill has come to Springhill with over 16 years as an Early Childhood Educator with in the city of Edmonton. In 1995, Jill graduated from Grant MacEwan, where she was grad president. Throughout the years, she has worked in the daycare, out of school care, dayhome and preschool fields. Jill has also spent numerous years working with a special needs client.
Jill believes that the "Learning through Play" Philosophy develops a child's creativity, problem solving skills, prepares children better for school, teaches new skills, social skills and boosts a child's self esteem.
Additional Staff
In addition to the full-time staff, Springhill is able to offer enrolled
children more one-on-one attention through the Grant MacEwan Early Learning &
Child Care practicum program. Springhill brings child care students into the
classroom to interact with children under the supervision of the fulltime staff.
These additional educators bring a smile to every child's face.
